At St John’s we are holding a Maths Week beginning 12th October 2013 to celebrate Maths Week Ireland 2013.
Throughout the weekeach class will take part in a variety of fun maths activities. This will be a fun-filled week for all the children but also a week when lots of valuable learning will take place.
Friday 18th October will be dressing up day! Children may come to school dressed in a Maths themed costume.
Some examples are:
- • A character with a number in their name eg. 007 or Ben 10.
- • A mathematical instrument eg. a ruler
- • Clothes decorated with 2D or 3D shapes
- • A costume representing a number song eg. 10 Green Bottles
In addition each family will receive a Maths Quiz to be completed during Maths Week - all quizzes with 100% correct answers will go into a draw for a ‘One For All Voucher’
As you will appreciate this is a wonderful way to learn and enjoy Maths and we want to encourage the children to see how maths impacts on, and is so important in everyday life.
